rockin’ on top of the world

christopher is part of a pop chorus
it’s like a club, outside regular school hours
they meet once a week before school

i have never seen him so excited
about anything he’s ever done in the past
not baseball
not soccer
especially after just practicing

he has to get to school an hour early
but the night before
he’s always reminding me to get him up

and when i pick him up at the end of the day
he still singing
and wants to tell me all about it
again

one of the songs they are singing
is rockin’ on top of the world
i think it’s from the movie polar express

i didn’t know the song and he wanted me to hear it
so we looked on youtube

this is what we watched:

as we were watching it
i commented

maybe you’ll dance like that too!!

fully expecting to hear a resounding no way!!

boy was i surprised when i heard

yeah – that’d be cool!

and my heart just smiled!

he’s always loved dancing and singing
and i soo hoped that he’d someday
have the chance to try it
and i hope that he continues to love it
for a long time!

on another, related note
this coming wednesday is the informational meeting
for the school musical production

which is done on an amazing scale for a middle school
last year they did the wizard of oz, the year before mulan

we’re going – i hope this will be another one of those opportunities
