we have a baby gate
in front of the fire in the family room
hot metal and glass
don’t mix well with little hands
gia (our cat)
likes to lie down
on the other side of the gate
probably because it’s warm
but even more so
it’s a sort of “safe haven”
until now
the other day
benjamin decided to join her
i was bit surprised
that she didn’t run away
but she stayed
and they sat together
checked each other out
and ended up chillin’
(or warmin’ as the case may be)
together for quite awhile
(in baby/cat time, that is – at least a minute or 2)
peaceful
